Welcome to our Atlantic Canada Travel Guide trip itinerary page, where we will detail the day-to-day itineraries, travel routes and distances (or travel times) of our trip to Atlantic Canada.

We long hesitated between flying directly to Newfoundland and starting the road trip just a few hours from Gros Morne National Park, and starting the road trip from Montreal (roughly 14 hrs by car, followed by an additional 7 hrs by ferry, then a final 3 hr drive). In the end, we decided to make our way up to Newfoundland by car from Montreal as we viewed it as a unique opportunity to visit some of the more unique landscapes of Atlantic Canada while we made our way northeast to Gros Morne National Park (NP) along Newfoundland’s western coast. This included stops in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia along the way.

• Day 1: Montreal –> Saint-John (New Brunswick) – 8 hr drive
• Day 2: Saint-John –> Hopewell Cape (New Brunswick) – 2 hr drive
• Day 3: Hopewell rocks area (New Brunswick)
• Day 4: Hopewell cape –> Sydney (Nova Scotia) – 5 hr drive
• Day 5: Sydney –> Trout River (Gros Morne NP; Newfoundland) – 7 hr overnight ferry + 3 hr drive
• Day 6: Trout River (Gros Morne NP; Newfoundland) 
• Day 7: Trout River (Gros Morne NP; Newfoundland) 
• Day 8: Trout River (Gros Morne NP; Newfoundland)  –> Saint-Anthony (Newfoundland) – 5 hr drive
• Day 9:  Saint-Anthony (Newfoundland)
• Day 10: Saint-Anthony  (Newfoundland) –>Rocky Harbour (Newfoundland) – 4 hr drive
• Day 11: Rocky Harbour (Gros Morne NP; Newfoundland)
• Day 12: Rocky Harbour (Gros Morne NP; Newfoundland)
• Day 13: Rocky Harbour (Gros Morne NP; Newfoundland) –> Port-aux-Basques (Newfoundland) – 3 hr drive
• Day 14: Port-aux-Basques –> Halifax (Nova Scotia) – 7 hr ferry + 4 hr drive
• Day 15: Halifax –> Lunenburg (Nova Scotia) – 1 hr drive
• Day 16: Lunenburg  –> Saint-John (New Brunswick) – 4 hr drive
• Day 17: Saint-John –> Montreal – 8 hr drive
