Iceland Travel Guides

Iceland is one of the most distinctive destinations we’ve visited, and it remains one of our favorites thanks to its mix of dramatic waterfalls, rugged coastal scenery, volcanic landscapes, glaciers, hot springs, and constantly changing weather. We also have a particular soft spot for the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, which sits outside the classic Ring Road route and is often described as a mini-Iceland in itself. With waterfalls, sea cliffs, lava fields, fishing villages, black-sand beaches, and views of Snæfellsjökull, it ended up being one of the most memorable regions of our trip.

It is a country that feels especially well-suited to road tripping, with many of its main attractions spread out along the Ring Road and beyond. Unlike some destinations where it makes sense to stay in a few home bases, we found that Iceland works well as a point-to-point trip, especially by campervan, since many of the highlights are scattered around the country. Changing location frequently can make the route feel more natural and help reduce unnecessary backtracking.

Below you will find all of our Iceland travel guides in one place, making it easier to plan your trip and navigate the country’s main highlights. You’ll find itinerary-based guides, including a Ring Road overview, along with articles covering day trips from Reykjavík, specific regions, waterfalls, scenic stops, and other key attractions.
