We were thrilled when we finally road tripped through the Canadian Rockies in Alberta, one of the most iconic alpine hiking destinations in Canada. Places like Banff and Jasper National Park deservedly get much of the attention, but some of our favorite parts of the trip also came from exploring areas beyond the most famous stops.
Our Alberta guides cover the Canadian Rockies, but also places such as Waterton Lakes National Park in the south, the wide-open scenery of the Cowboy Trail, the badlands around Drumheller, and the mountain landscapes of Kananaskis, which we think deserve a lot more attention. Together, these areas make Alberta one of the most rewarding provinces in Canada for road trips, hiking, wildlife viewing, and dramatic scenery.
This page brings together all of our Canadian Rockies and Alberta travel guides in one place, including national park planning guides, individual hiking trail guides, and, in addition to other itinerary, wildlife viewing and planning tips.
