Bali Travel Guides

Our time in Bali was different from many of our other travels in a few ways. For starters, it is one of the few truly tropical destinations we have visited, and it was not a self-drive road trip in the usual sense. Instead, we relied mostly on local drivers to get around, using different bases to explore temples, waterfalls, rice fields, viewpoints, beaches, and nearby islands.

That said, we still very much enjoyed our time in Bali, one of the most diverse destinations in Southeast Asia, offering a mix of cultural landmarks, lush landscapes, and coastal scenery. We were especially drawn to Central and East Bali, including places like Ubud and Sidemen, which felt quieter, greener, and more scenic than the busier parts of South Bali, which is reflected in the travel guides we put together.

Below you’ll find all of our Bali travel guides in one place, including destination-based guides for places like Ubud, Sidemen, and the surrounding islands, as well as curated articles covering waterfalls, temples, rice field walks, and unique experiences like the Mount Batur sunrise hike. We also included guides for the Nusa Islands just off Bali’s east coast, and the nearby Gili Islands (which are technically part of Lombok).
