Sicily is one of the most diverse destinations in Italy (along with Sardinia), combining historic cities, archaeological sites, and dramatic coastal landscapes. From well-known towns like Taormina, Cefalù, and Syracuse to the ruins of Agrigento, Segesta, and Selinunte, the island offers a wide range of places to explore.
We spent over three weeks in Sicily and quickly fell in love with the culture, history, landscapes, and food that this not-so-tiny Italian island has to offer. While places like Taormina, Syracuse, and Palermo are obvious highlights, we developed a real soft spot for smaller coastal towns such as Scopello and Cefalù, each with its own character and history. We were also surprised by just how many impressive Greek archaeological sites there are across the island, which, in our view, rival those in Greece.
This page brings together all of our Sicily travel guides in one place, making it easier to plan your route and explore different parts of the island. You’ll find guides covering major towns and cities, along with natural areas like the Zingaro Nature Reserve, Vendicari, and coastal spots around Scopello, as well as destinations in western Sicily such as Trapani, Erice, and the Egadi Islands.
